Aniplex and A-1 Pictures have announced that a second season of the series Eromanga Sensei is in the works. The new episodes are expected to air during the fall 2020 season and will continue following the light novel series by Tsukasa Fushimi.
The so-called “sibling romantic comedy” follows high school light novel author Masamune Izumi who lives with his shut-in little sister, Sagiri. Masamune has his novels illustrated by an anonymous artist, who goes by “Eromanga Sensei”, but soon discovers that his illustrator has actually been his own little sister all along. The story unfolds as the two attempt to find success within the light novel industry.
With many anime productions having been delayed this year, the announcement was met with surprise, but not delight, by anime fans. As the original season premiered over 3 years ago, many had falsely assumed that the chance of a sequel was already well behind them. Unfortunately, to everyone’s dismay, Fushimi has reportedly still been cranking out light novels since the anime first aired, providing plenty of source material for a potential sequel.
A-1 Pictures did not state why they ultimately decided to produce a second season, but did confirm that having standards was not one of the reasons. It was also confirmed that staff from the first season would be returning to work on the sequel.
No specific information is yet known about the story of Eromanga Sensei Season 2. However, it is expected, much like Fushimi’s previous work, Oreimo, to further increase the harem intensity before ending in complete disaster.
I thought most people liked this show. I only watched a little, but it wasn’t bad.
Yes, I love this series! xD
