The Anime Humor League, the official organization in charge of managing and overseeing anime-based humor, has announced that after June 19th, 2016 it is officially retiring all jokes related to Shou Tucker, his daughter Nina Tucker, and their dog Alexander, from all versions of Fullmetal Alchemist. The league’s spokesman gave an official statement on the retirement.
“Shou Tucker jokes were funny for a while, there was a lot of material to work with there, and Fullmetal Alchemist is a well-known series, so it served as a good reference joke for new fans. But after seeing people trot out the same ‘Shou Tucker Best Dad’ jokes on twitter for the 10th year in a row, we thought it was finally time to retire the subject. It’s the same reason we retired ‘Get in the robot Shinji’ in 2015.”
“The fact is that the Shou Tucker well has been completely dried out, and now people are just repeating jokes that have been told countless times before. It’s time to put the subject out of its misery, much like Scar did to Nina Tucker, which is a reference we swear we won’t make again when the subject is retired after today.”
“It’s time anime fans to move on to new anime dad comedy material. Like, how about Hiroshi from Michiko and Hatchin, he was a pretty bad dad. Did anyone watch that show? Or maybe make a Bunny Drop manga ending joke, we’re pretty sure that’s recent enough to have some humor left in it.”
The humor league also clarified that while Nina Tucker jokes are being retired, Nina Einstein/Table-kun jokes probably still have about another year’s worth of life left in them.
