Earlier this week, an anonymous contributor on the Japanese 2channel message board noticed that a new episode of the anime Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen did not appear to air in its designated 1 A.M. time slot. In fact, as the post points out, there have not been any new episodes since late November.
Within hours, dozens of anime fans have confirmed that the 10th episode of Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen, scheduled for the first week of December, never aired. Itsuwari no Kamen is the the sequel to the 2006 fantasy drama Utawarerumono, and was scheduled to last 24 episodes.
“I kinda stopped watching after two episodes, but I was bored one day and tried to catch up, only to find that after nine episodes there was no tenth!,” the original message, likely written by the only person watching Itsuwari no Kamen this season, read in part.
“Ahh shit, I was hoping no one would notice,” director Motonaga Keitarou, whom we tracked to a beach-side resort, told Anime Maru. “Uhhhh we’re going through some production delays. Yeah. That’s why we’re a few episodes behind.”
“We’re working very hard to address the issues and er… the next episode will be delivered soon,” Motonaga said while lying in a hammock with a tropical drink in hand.
While being escorted out of the property, our reporters claim they also saw the staff of Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note relaxing on the beach, though this cannot be substantiated by press time as everyone has forgotten that show existed.
