NEW YORK, NY — Following her performance on Late Show with David Letterman, Japanese virtual pop sensation Hatsune Miku made a guest appearance on The O’Reilly Factor earlier this week. Hatsune Miku’s tour of the United States has kicked off with some serious mainstream exposure — she has followed an appearance on the highest-rated late night show with an appearance on the most watched cable news program.
Host Bill O’Reilly engaged a hologram of Miku on several topics, including healthcare reform, ISIS, and various other political topics.
“Obamacare is driving this country downhill; if we offer free socialized healthcare, all the Mexicans are going to jump the border and take our jobs,” Miku professed to an amused O’Reilly.
“The US government has known about ISIS for years — what’s happening in the Middle East is a complete failure on the part of the Obama Administration,” the lifelike hologram continued. The virtual idol shared a fiery rapport with O’Reilly, repeatedly cutting him off with rants about “the hoax of global warming” and “the entitled minority in this country”.
“I don’t really get it. I think I’m getting too old for this,” the 65-year-old political commentator told Anime Maru afterward. “Though to her credit she was infinitely more pleasant than Michele Bachmann.”
Hatsune Miku is set to continue her nationwide publicity tour next week, with a guest appearance on Lifetime channel’s reality TV series Dance Moms.
